Senior Vice President, Chief Operating Officer (COO) for Latin America and the Caribbean, Wells Fargo
Ariel Marin is a senior vice president and the Latin America and Caribbean regional chief operating officer (COO) for Cross Border Governance in the Wells Fargo International Group. This region includes Mexico, Central America, South America, and the Caribbean – a total of 42 countries and other multilateral organizations with multiple businesses (such as Asset Management, Global Banking, Global Financial Institutions (GFI), Wells Fargo Advisors, and Wells Fargo Securities) active in the region. He is based in Miami.
Ariel has more than 30 years of international banking experience, and has worked for Wells Fargo for 19 years as a GFI regional manager for different regions of Latin America.
He began his international banking career with Citibank in Managua, Nicaragua. After completing training he was appointed manager of the special assets unit handling distressed loans and managing relationships with local financial institutions. Ariel also worked for the American Security Bank in Washington, D.C., now part of Bank of America, as a relationship manager in the international division, and for the Bank of New York as a regional manager for Mexico and Central America. Prior to joining Wells Fargo, Ariel worked for NationsBank as a relationship manager covering Latin America.
Ariel holds a master’s degree in business administration with a concentration in banking and public finance from INCAE, a leading business school based in Costa Rica, and a law degree from the National University of Nicaragua. He currently serves as a director for the Danny Foundation, an organization that assists children with cancer in Central America, and has served several times on the board of the Florida International Bankers Association.
He is fluent in Spanish and Portuguese.
